The 2nd Edition of the Level 3A Lesson Book is an exciting, educational refresh that launches students into early intermediate playing. More choices are given for in-depth instruction of technique, theory, transposition, and creativity. Outstanding new repertoire includes pieces by Tchaikovsky, Türk, Reinagle, plus traditional songs and Faber originals.

Good book but came soggy??
The book is good but for some reason it came soggy and oily on every page?? When you touch it it feels oily and it hasn’t dried out. This isn’t a big deal though, I like all the songs.

Great Teaching Tool
I have used these books beginning at Level 1 for several of my daughter. We have enjoyed the style and ease and they have learned very well from them. Very recommended.

I would have like to see a bit more on syncopation
Level 3A first half focuses mainly on rhythm knowledge and time signature of 3/8, 6/8, triplet. The second half introduces chromatic scale, D major scale, and 1 ocatave arpeggios and further explores ledger lines. This is the first level where the songs have a some meat to them and challenging spots for the average kid. I would have like to see a bit more on syncopation. But perhaps it will be further explored in higher levels. There is no CD for this level. But you can go to the piano adventure website for MIDI or REAL player for the songs.

Good foundation for students.
The Faber Piano Adventures are a good foundation for students, helping reinforce the basics in technique, performance, theory and musicianship. The lesson book works in conjunction with theory, technique and performance books, but be aware that you are buying the same editions. I’ve had it happen before when I have bought the 2nd edition of the lesson book, but not theory and therefore had the corresponding pages not match up. Music is printed in relatively big print which is great for student and teacher! Not always the most challenging method book if you have fast learners with talent and ability.

NOT THE SECOND EDITION
The description says second edition. The bag it came in said second edition, but it is NOT the second edition. It is copyright 1998, not 2013, with totally different songs. I got the sightreading book to go along with this, but the songs are not the same so it is not very useful. It is not worth returning, but I am very disappointed that they are still selling old books on Amazon without saying so. They should clearly state that this is not the second edition.

Piano teacher uses and likes it
Piano teacher told us to get this for lessons. My son seems to be doing well using it. I don’t think there’s anything extraordinary about it but it gets the job done.

Piano Adventures Series is Great!
I have been teaching piano at the beginner and intermediate levels for ten years. I find the Faber & Faber Piano Adventures Lesson Book to be thorough with regard to well-rounded piano instruction. Their newer version duplicates some of the supplemental materials that I provide (i.e., pentachords, scales, I-IV-V chords), which my students learn far in advance of the book’s timeline. By the time most of my students complete level 2A, they have memorized all the major pentachords and scales and are working on the minor keys. Still, for under $8 per lesson book, this series is affordable and packed with songs that my students enjoy learning. I appreciate the massive efforts of Faber & Faber to make piano study fun and steadily progressive.

Trust Faber for Fun Music!
As a piano teacher, I’ve used lots of different piano books, and Piano Adventures are the best. There is a good mix of classical and fun pieces in level 3A.

My daughter switched to Faber’s Level 1 books after starting …
My daughter switched to Faber’s Level 1 books after starting out in Alfred’s. She has progressed quickly in the Faber books and they seem to be more of a “click” to her. She’s now entering 3A and is enjoying the new books immensely. We really appreciate the variety available at each level, including Popular Repertoire and Christmas songs. The Faber Theory is also more interesting than Notespeller, which is what she used instead for a couple years.

Really Enjoying it even as an Adult.
As an adult there are a lot of options for lesson books. I’ve now been through the first two Levels of Piano Adventures “Older Beginners”, after the 2nd Level of that series you are supposed to move onto 3A of this series. Which means that Older Beginners encompasses Primer, Level 1A, 1B, 2A and 2B. I was worried at first because the series is intended for a younger audience, but after trying a few other “Adult” Series this one has been the most comprehensive and understandable.I am working with a teacher as well, and of course that will change how things look.

Very good piano textbook
My daughter has been using Faber series for a year. Very well organized and all the songs in the books are beautiful and fit to the right level. My daughter improved fast by using this textbook.

I would recommend this book because it is fun!
You get a nice selection of pieces in this series: some folk tunes, patriotic, classical. They are presented in an easy to learn format that is appealing to many ages. It uses a multi-key approach. I would recommend using Technic, Theory, books with this for lessons. The performance books are great also!I have used many piano books to teach my students over the years and this is one of my favorites. I very rarely have a student that isn’t interested in practicing the pieces in these books.

Best series available
I have been teaching piano for years. This is the best method series on the market! It works with many different learning types. When used in conjunction with the other books in the series it thoroughly covers every aspect of methodology.

Very nice!
These Piano Adventure books are wonderful! They are bright and colorful and go in perfect steps for a young learner. My daughter has used many of these and is doing great with piano lessons! An added bonus is there is a certificate of completion in the back of each book so your child gets an “award certificate” when it is completed.

The best we’ve used.
Faber is the best of the traditional method books, in my opinion. My kids do well and love being able to learn note reading but also chord reading and improvisation.

Disappointed. Apparently, there are different editions and they are not the same. Not all the songs that are listed here are included into the second edition of the book that I’ve got. Have to return.

Piano Adventures Lesson Book, Level 3A
This is the best review book I have seen, and it is turning out to beenormously helpful to my students, some of whom have had othermusic teachers in the past. Faber spells out techniques and informationin very clear language with great illlustrations. We love it.
